The thing most people love about where they live, and work is the community they are surrounded by.
Community is important for us. It brings us together, helps us to meet new people and make new friends and provides for us in times of need.
National Make a Difference Day falls on the fourth Saturday of October. This is a day that celebrates people making a difference, whether it is a big one or a small one.
Showing we care about others through support and sometimes some hard work in the way of elbow grease is a great way to make a difference.
Making a difference comes in many ways so you have options on how to participate.
Here are some ideas for you:
- Volunteer in your community or for an organization you believe in.
- Be a mentor.
- Make a donation to a charity that you want to support.
- Be nice. That support you provide to someone may make more of a difference to them than you realize.
- Do you have a hobby that can help others? If so, use it!
Making a difference can happen in many ways. There is no right or wrong way to go about helping others. Start in your own backyard. See who in your community could use your support and offer it to them.
Supporting others doesn’t have to be hard or time consuming. Little actions matter just as much as the big actions.
