Are You Ready for Summer Road Trips?

Memorial Day is right around the corner and we all know what that means!  It is finally the start of summer (mostly) and time for road trips to your favorite places to visit.

Each summer millions of people take to the road for various reasons that bring them joy.

May 27th is National Road Trip Day.  That date falls on a Friday and runs into the long weekend and travel plans for Memorial Day.

The last couple of years have been tough. Now that things are finally starting to look up, more people are getting in their car and taking to the road.

Long weekends are a great time to plan a trip because they add in an extra day.

Less rushing, and more relaxing.

Road trips wouldn’t be complete either if there wasn’t plenty of entertainment.

Some ideas include:
*A good music station
*Audiobook
*Conversation with others in the car
*Playing games everyone can easily partake in

Another important tip is to pack a healthy lunch (or other meal) and amazing snacks and drinks.

When you are planning a road trip, while taking to the open road can be exciting, you do need to have a plan also.

There are phone apps such as TripAdvisor that are very helpful for finding various things, including places to eat, gas stations, entertainment, and hotels in the area you are located. You can check things and plan ahead of time or just check it out when you figure out where you want to stop.

You also want to make sure your vehicle has been maintained and is in top condition before taking to the road. Be sure to do routine maintenance, make sure you have good tires and always have emergency things in the car also in case you need them.

Be sure that your companions are on board also with how you want to take the trip, or compromise to make sure you are all happy with the plan.

There are usually 2 kinds of people on a road trip.  There is the one that takes their time, doesn’t mind detouring from the route to see something great that they may have missed otherwise and doesn’t have a strict plan or schedule that has to be followed so no pressure is involved.

The other person is the kind that likes a schedule. Things are planned, routes are laid out, stops are set up ahead of time and there is a timeline for everything.

Sometimes it is more fun to travel with someone like you but if you have a mix you will need to agree ahead of time on what is allowed and not allowed on the trip.

Road trips are about making memories.  They are about deep conversations had on the road, fun experiences together, and meeting new people along the way.

Please make sure your auto insurance is up to date and covers what you need it to also.  We are happy to review your policy at John Scott Insurance Agency to make sure it is the best fit for you and that you are saving as much as possible for something that is essential.
